Which litter box do you choose?

The cat litter box is an important part of the cat's equipment. Some cats prefer a box with a door, others prefer a fully open box, others want to jump into the box from the ceiling. Some cats will often dig around in the sand so that it spatters outside the box - then you can test a jump-in cat litter box that has completely closed walls. This litter box also keeps dogs, other animals and small children away from the contents of the litter box. We have the Hop In litter box from Savic which also has a perforated lid / roof so that the cat litter falls back into the box when the cat walks on the lid. If you put this litter box in a corner then the cat is forced to take a few steps on the lid when it leaves the box so that sandy paws do not become as sandy when they jump back onto the floor.

Mask scents

Not everyone appreciates the scent of litter box and cat urine. How lucky are we that there are sprays and deodorant that can hide the smell! Litter Deodoriser is a cat sand deodorant that is sprayed on cat litter to both neutralize the smell and provide a pleasant scent. The spray is, of course, non-toxic. The second spray, Crazy Cat Lady Room Fragrance spray, is from popular Pet Head and it smells of strawberry orange lemonade. You spray this in the room where the litter box is, or in other rooms where it smells like cat litter.

To keep in mind is to place the cat's toilet far away from the cat's dining area. It is clear that the cat does not want to eat and drink where it also pees and poops. If you have the opportunity to have the litter box in another room than where the cat eats and drinks it is good. If you have problems with large amounts of cat litter spattering outside of the box, you can either change the type of box (one with door or entrance from the top, for example) or buy a carpet to have outside of the box. There are rubber mats and silicone mats for this purpose.
