Benefits of cat toys

There are several advantages to letting the cat play. Firstly, it means that the cat moves around, which of course means that the cat stays mobile and strong. An indoor cat may not get as much exercise if it does not play, so when you have toys around the house or even activate the cat with them yourself it gets much needed exercise. Second, the cat's natural instincts, like the instinct to hunt, are stimulated. If you have a toy you hide or throw, the cat can hunt for it, which is usually appreciated. Thirdly, it stimulates the cat mentally, and there are cat toys that are extra good at this particular thing. With puzzle games, strategy games and problem solving toys, the cat can think and learn to solve problems.

Different types of cat toys

Classic cat toys are mice and balls of different materials. There are mice in all kinds of colors, shapes and sizes - with or without sound, with or without catnip. Here you will find balls for the cat in textile, plastic, rubber, fake fur, paper and a variety of other materials. Some balls rustle, sounds, beeps, rattles which can make them very exciting for the cat. Other balls are filled with catnip, which most cats love and can stimulate play. Toys that are shaped like small mice or rats tend to be another popular cat toy. Petster also has cat toys that look like small birds that have chirping sounds - this usually becomes a real favorite!

Different play rods / cat rods / fishing rods for cat are another toy that can be popular. Play bets can look in different ways; some have feathers, others have a tuft in a string, some have a small mouse at the end and so on. With a playing rod, it is easy to activate the cat as the hunting instinct quickly kicks in. You wiggle or stir around the play rod and the cat follows it intensely and then the cat begins to chase what sits at the end. This is a toy that is usually appreciated by most and many can play for several hours - provided you as an owner can bear to do so!
